Infection prevention and control (IP&C) practices are important in maintaining a safe environment for everyone by reducing the risk of the potential spread of disease.

By the end of this module you will be able to:

      1. Recognise infectious diseases
      2. Undertake an audit of infections within your clinic and undertake improvements in infection control to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections
      3. Prepare a treatment regime for infections such as MRSA
      4. Appreciate the factors that affect hospital-acquired and surgical site infections
      5. Select appropriate cleaning agents for a variety of different items
      6. Improve the cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of a wide variety of equipment and instrumentation
      7. Encourage the whole team to engage in appropriate infection control within all areas of their clinic
